Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Loss Mitigation Document Assistant to join our team. The Loss Mitigation Document Assistant plays a critical role in assisting supporting the Loss Mitigation team by collecting, reviewing, and organizing documentation returned from borrowers, ensuring accurate and timely processing of loan modifications, collateral documents, title report request, and other correspondence as part of completion loss mitigation options, while adhering to all regulatory guidelines and company policies. Our hours are Monday Friday from 7am-7pm and Saturday from 8am-12pm. This position may be required to work on Saturdays.
Essential Duties:
- Collect and review documentation submitted by borrowers seeking loss mitigation options.
- Ensure that all required documents are accurate, complete, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Communicate with borrowers, internal teams, and external stakeholders to gather necessary information and provide updates on the status of loss mitigation applications.
- Perform accurate data entry of loss mitigation-related information into company systems.
- Organize and maintain electronic files for each loan, ensuring proper documentation is readily accessible for review by Loss Mitigation Specialists.
- Update loan status within the system to reflect document receipt and progress.
- Collaborate with loss mitigation specialists, underwriters, and other relevant departments to address challenges and streamline processes.
- Liaise with external agencies, legal professionals, and servicers as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and investor guidelines regarding loan modification documentation.
- Verify borrower eligibility for specific loss mitigation options based on established criteria.
- Flag potential compliance issues to the Loss Mitigation Specialist for further review.
- Prepare and send standard correspondence to borrowers regarding document requests and updates.
- Assist with scheduling appointments for borrower consultations with Loss Mitigation Specialists.
- Maintain accurate records of all communication with borrowers and relevant documentation.
- Adhere to established quality standards for document review and data entry.
- Conduct regular self-audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Regular, reliable and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or relevant certification is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Physical Requirements
Stationary position; prolonged periods at a desk and working on the computer.
Occasional movement about inside the office to walk to offices and office machinery.
Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, must be able to push, pull, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp and hold tools and other items with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the workday.
