The Security Services Department's overall mission is to identify and counter security threats to the MIT Lincoln Laboratory's mission of development of game-changing technology in support of National Security, including guarding against compromise by foreign intelligence agencies and insider threats. To accomplish this mission, this department formulates and implements policies, plans, and actions designed to protect facilities against threats of vandalism, accidental destruction, and sabotage; and safeguards personnel, classified and unclassified information systems, personal identifiable information, property, and other assets from exploitation and recruitment by foreign intelligence agencies. MIT Lincoln Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) whose mission is research in support of National Security. Mission - The Security Services Department's (SSD) overall mission is to identify and counter security threats to the MIT Lincoln Laboratory's mission of development of game-changing technology in support of national security, including guarding against compromise by foreign intelligence agencies and insider threats. Overview : The six (6) month LEAD program will provide current students with real world opportunities to gain experience in a fast-paced industrial security environment. The FAC is a Tier-3 technical analysis section within the SSD Cybersecurity Group. The FAC supports cyber investigations by conducting digital forensic examinations. Additionally, the FAC provides specialized technical and operational threat intelligence and analysis capabilities to support cybersecurity operations. Support host system forensic analysis to assist with cyber investigations Assist with the development of new forensic procedures and techniques Develop training and ensure information security operating procedures are updated / accurate Collaborate with Laboratory cyber research staff Conduct testing of forensic tools and upgrade as necessary Assist with various cyber threat intelligence efforts How will you grow? What you need : To work with MITLL, all employees must meet certain basic requirements. The ability to obtain and maintain an interim secret clearance Must be a U.S. Citizen. Successfully pass a background check. Active participation in an accredited bachelor's / master's degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems Familiarity with securing operating systems such as Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, Mac, etc. is required. Demonstrated capability in presenting ideas written and orally within a cross-functional environment is required. The successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment investigation and must meet all eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Ideally, you will have : The Laboratory values experiences from diverse backgrounds and occupations. The most successful candidates will have the following skills and qualifications. Highly motivated, interested in the fields of cyber defense and cyber research, inquisitive, and able to research new highly technical subjects. Familiarity with the operation of and forensic artifacts associated with modern operating systems (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux). Familiarity with sound digital forensic principles, techniques, and processes. Understanding of enterprise networks, security infrastructure, and common protocols. Familiarity with virtualization technologies and cloud computing. Familiarity with mobile device (iOS / Android) security environments. Knowledge of enterprise networks, security infrastructure, and common protocols Ability to distill complex technical subjects into business terms for decision maker Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret-level DoD security clearance.
