Lead global sourcing for MTS Systems including global process development and deployment, strategy development and execution, and operations including supplier selection, approval, and management of timeliness and cost performance. Work with product owners to implement inventory strategies that minimize working capital, part shortages and product fulfillment lead time. Work with engineering and product management to identify and implement opportunities to reduce cost, lead time, and defect rates for supplier materials. Maximize team productivity, integration with other functions, and communication across projects and functions.
Major Areas of Accountability:
Sourcing/Purchasing
- Provide global leadership and direction for sourcing function to ensure effective business management through compliance with standards and procedures while meeting production schedules, cost and inventory targets and quality requirements.
- Develop and maintain global processes and procedures and monitor effectiveness. Ensure high quality service, efficient operation, and compliance with established methods/standards. Initiates corrective action as appropriate. Responsible for all relevant QMS documents, WIs, BPWIs and US SOX compliance. Oversees accuracy of SAP transactions to ensure integrity of data. Responsible for annual material standard cost roll analysis.
- Lead development and implementation of a global sourcing strategy to minimize cost and lead time while meeting all quality and compliance requirements.

Ensure a competitive advantage in meeting compliance, quality, lead time and cost metrics by:
- Ensuring proper alignment with appropriate technologies and suppliers;
- Supporting team to meet or exceed objectives consistent with business requirements;
- Establishing improved collaboration early in projects to minimize cost and cycle in the design phase;
- Establishing clear and complete communication plans that appropriately share strategy, operational status, market analysis and risk/opportunities;
- Driving global consistency in procurement processes and procedures;
- Developing and leveraging global sourcing expertise across all categories;
- Negotiating supply agreements, partnerships and alliances with key suppliers.
- Develop global strategies to drive worldwide indirect spend cost saving initiatives, DOA compliance and contract retention policies.
- Ensure required compliance to multiple regulating agencies.
- Establish and monitor purchasing/replenishment-related material master settings and ensure proper configuration in SAP. Monitor effectiveness and initiates changes based on results.
- Establishes and performs against cost center budgets, as assigned.
Inventory Management
- Establish proactive inventory monitoring and analysis, including regular communication of status, forecast, risks and opportunities.
- Manage/Lead inventory positioning to MTS objectives balancing costs, delivery cycles and risk.
- Establish improved integration of inventory forecasting in the S&OP process working with Sales and Planning.
- Champion materials lean activities.
- Manage the Excess and Obsolete (E&O) inventory management process.
- Manage inventory "settings" to optimize inventory position.
- Identify inventory reduction opportunities, establish targets and develop detailed execution plans.
- Manage, implement and maintain consumption-based replenishment models and processes to increase purchasing transaction productivity and improve part availability and partners with Global Logistics Manager to ensure effective replenishment at Third Party Logistics (3PL) providers.
Supplier Quality
Work with quality leadership to ensure the quality of sourced materials:
- Support and execute the Supplier Quality Management process, including supplier development, qualifications and performance standards
- Working with quality team to develop and manage improvement plans for non-performing suppliers to reduce supplier quality issues both in the plant and at suppliers.
- Implement sustainable processes across all material categories ensuring long-term productivity, quality and schedule attainment.
- Develop, deploy and maintain policies and procedures effective in meeting and sustaining compliance requirements, including, but not limited to: U.S. Government, ISO, RoHS, REACH and ITAR.
- Resolve issues with suppliers, internal stakeholders and support organizations. Actively communicates status, issues and results to appropriate parties.
Team Leadership and Development
- Recruit, develop and retain a staff of leaders and experts in order to provide appropriate service levels to customers.
- Establish goals and objectives and provide direct feedback on a regular basis.
- Lead the ongoing management and development of assigned leaders and individual contributors.
- Determine staffing and skill requirements to meet organizational needs and implement plans to satisfy those requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or similar field
- A minimum of 10 years of applicable work experience in supply chain management to include experience in a global manufacturing organization.
- Minimum of 8 years management experience required
- Demonstrated interpersonal communication and leadership skills and ability to interact professionally and cross-functionally to build partnerships at all levels within the organization, with suppliers, and external customers
- Demonstrated ability to develop sourcing strategy, improve purchasing productivity and effectiveness and successfully manage inventory levels
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Ability to travel <25%
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in global sourcing organizations
- Experience with project-based production
- Experience in both material resource planning (MRP) and market rate of demand (MRD) production planning methods
- APICS/CPIM certification preferred
