This position is located in the offices of the NAACP Hollywood Bureau, NAACP’s production facilities, named NAACP , which consists of a physical plant comprising a virtual production studio, podcast studio, edit suite, and 120-seat multipurpose exhibition space, as well as the content delivery platform of the organization. The purpose of these assets is to utilize entertainment and media as an apparatus to achieve progressive social change.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Production Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Creative Director, the ideal candidate will manage the day-to-day operations of the NAACP productions, ensuring all aspects of the operation run smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in pre-production, production, and post-production. Specific functions include the following:
- Pre-Production/Production/Post-Production
- Collaborate with the creative director, staff, producers, directors, and clients to coordinate project objectives and requirements.
- Develop and administer production schedules, budgets, and timelines.
- Secure locations and permits.
- Scheduling of NAACP Studios and screening room.
- Assemble and coordinate requisite production teams, including camera crews, editors, hair/make-up, and other specialists.
- Organize and oversee pre-production meetings and briefings.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the production set.
- Ensure all equipment, materials, and personnel are in place and functioning as required.
- Monitor the production process to ensure it stays on schedule and within budget.
- Solve any logistical issues that arise during productions.
- Maintain clear and effective communication between all departments and stakeholders.
- Coordinate the post-production process, including editing, sound design, and visual effects.
- Ensure all post-production activities are completed on time and meet the project’s quality standards.
- Manage the delivery of final products to clients.
- Financial Management
- Track and manage production expenses.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to process invoices and payments, including rental deposits and balances.
- Ensure productions stay within budget while maintaining high-quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in film, television production, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in video production, with at least 2 years in a producer role.
- Strong knowledge of the media production process, including pre-production, production, and post-production.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and schedules effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in teams, participate in cross-departmental planning, and work with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Proficiency in software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
- Ability and willingness to travel and work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, as required by production schedules.
