Job Title: Office & Maintenance Support Staff
Location: 170 Lexington Road, Billerica MA
Schedule: Part-Time; 12-20 hours per week. The ideal candidate will be available at least 3 days per week (Monday-Friday) between the hours of 10 am to 2 pm, but we are flexible on the time. Typical work day for full-time employees is Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm. Choose your own schedule!
Supervisor: Executive Director/Program Associate
Position Summary:
The Office & Maintenance Support Staff is responsible for ensuring the organization and cleanliness of the building.
Responsibilities:
Position Specific Responsibilities
- Ensuring the kitchens are neat and orderly
- Cleaning spills and sanitization
- Disinfecting items and high touch areas around the building (kitchen items, keyboards, toys, exercise equipment)
- Wiping top, bottom, and inside of cubbies
- Organizing common areas around the building (library, OT/PT Room, conference rooms, playground)
- Stocking supplies (paper, cleaning products, water dispensers, cups, utensils)
- Cleaning bathrooms and common areas as needed/requested. This role does not typically include regular janitorial duties, as a contracted cleaning company handles nightly cleaning services. However, occasional clean-ups for unexpected spills or accidents may be required.
- Monthly cleaning projects (organizing teacher supplies, toy/material closets)

Supervision and Performance Assessment:
- Performance requirements are clearly specified, performance is measured frequently, feedback is given immediately and mastery of particular skills allows access to higher-level skills. Reinforcement is tied to performance in the form of pay, professional development opportunities, and recognition.
- This position will be evaluated/assessed by the Executive Director and Program Associate on general performance, cooperation, and teamwork.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask/prioritize
- A customer service mentality; demonstrating respect and care for our students/members/staff and ability to adapt in the moment to shifting priorities
- At least two references that will attest to the staff’s interpersonal skills, energy, work ethic, ability to work on a team, leadership skills, integrity, and ability to accept and learn from feedback
- Satisfactory results for new hire and recurring background/CORI/SORI check
- A driver’s license in good standing
- Thorough knowledge of NLG’s policies and procedures
- Thorough knowledge of NLG’s daily operations and guidelines
Work Environment/Conditions
- Work is completed in a school/office building during the work day while students/members and staff are present
- Personal protective equipment is provided; candidate must be able to follow health guidelines and safety protocols as prescribed
- Physical demands include tasks that require gross and fine motor manipulation such as: walking, bending, standing, squatting, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Employees must be able to receive and deliver information via a company provided walkie-talkie.
