PIP Litigation Consultant, Sr. Consultant

This is a fully remote opportunity. Job Summary: Responsible for investigating and confirming the facts of loss for the most complex automobile accidents. Determines coverage, liability, damages and otherwise adjusts and negotiates claims within limit of authority. Mentors and provides direction to junior employees. Key Responsibilities: Handle claims in litigation which includes demonstrating knowledge of the litigation process, knowledge of applicable National General litigation policies and procedures and interpreting and applying this knowledge to claims in litigation; determine whether to negotiate settlements directly with plaintiff counsel or refer to defense counsel; manage litigation and recovery costs; utilize ADR when appropriate Assist in training, developing and mentoring of Claim Representatives as needed Act as subject matter expert in regard to complex and/or legal claim handling issues Prepare for and attend legal case mediation and settlement conferences as necessary Handles investigation regarding all aspects of the most complex auto claims (coverage, liability and damages) with the exercise discretion and independence within increased level of authority Applies advanced understanding of insurance policies written by the company, the industry, and organizational relationships within the company and department Determines subrogation or fraud potential and how to handle for the most complex cases Identifies customer needs and works to meet those needs using appropriate customer service skills Recognizes and identifies body parts of a vehicle or understanding other potential property damage For claims involving injuries (if handled), learns how to review, evaluate, and negotiate moderate to complex/Catastrophic injury claims Applies increased experience in the Sr Adjuster level or a rotation into a specialty position (Coverage, Investigation Specialist, Total Loss, Initial Handler, Extended Handler, Litigation, etc.) Recommends process improvements Supervisory Responsibilities: This job does not have supervisory duties Preferred Qualifications: Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience 3 or more years of related experience Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Ability to obtain and maintain adjuster licenses as required Functional Skills Advanced customer service orientation Advanced verbal and written communication skills Advanced time management skills from a global case management and pending perspective (vs. transactional) Advanced problem solving and analytical skills; ability to detect differences and issue recognition from multiple sources Proficient in Word and Outlook National General prides itself on offering our employees a robust Total Rewards package which includes base salary. The base range offered for the role is: $43,500 - $90,000 and may vary based on internal equity, and job-related skills, knowledge and experience; among other factors.
