Paralegal - Litigation, Compliance & Data Privacy

Job Description Summary

This role offers a great chance for an experienced paralegal seeking a new challenge or someone aiming to gain experience in Litigation, Compliance, and Data Privacy. The successful candidate will provide top-notch legal advice to our internal clients, including senior management.

The position involves extensive research, drafting legal documents, and supporting litigation efforts. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of relevant laws and regulations. Prior experience in data privacy and compliance is highly desirable. This role also requires maintaining confidentiality and being detail-oriented to ensure accuracy in all legal matters.

Key Accountabilities

The candidate will manage their workload and assist lawyers as needed, making this role ideal for flexible team players who seek responsibility and have a positive attitude.

Litigation

• Assist with document review, ensuring all relevant information is accurately captured and organized.
• Draft pre-action documents and correspondence, maintaining a high degree of professionalism and attention to legal standards.
• Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparations and present findings clearly to attorneys.
• Liaise with the business to gather information, ensuring all necessary data is obtained promptly and efficiently.
• Manage case files, ensuring all documents are filed correctly and deadlines are met.
  
  

Compliance/Data Privacy

• Draft and review policy documents to ensure they comply with current laws and regulations.
• Coordinate training sessions with the business and external counsel, ensuring all staff are aware of compliance requirements.
• Research and summarize laws and regulations related to data privacy and security, providing clear guidance to the team.
• Complete regulatory filings accurately and on time, maintaining detailed records of submissions.
• Monitor ongoing compliance with data security and protection laws, implementing updates as necessary.
• Assist in conducting internal audits to ensure adherence to compliance protocols, documenting findings and recommending improvements.
  
  

Wider Team

• Provide support to other paralegals or lawyers when required, fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Handle ad hoc administrative support, such as processing invoices, scheduling meetings, and maintaining a shared database of legal documents.
• Participate in team meetings, offering insights and updates on ongoing projects and tasks.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal best practices and industry trends
  
  

Qualifications

• Law degree or equivalent required
• Legal Practice Course or equivalent an advantage
• Previous paralegal experience desirable
