Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Manage the Logistics Coordinators in the execution of freight booking, status management, and issue resolution. Balance work within the team and the support organizations to best ensure high levels of service.
- Attending to internal customer needs including defining freight lanes and costs for new customers and supporting implementation and execution of new routes.
- Provide support to Sales for creating cost effective transportation options to support new and existing customer accounts.
- Identify opportunities for internal optimization including back-hauls, payload maximization, etc. to improve Natures Touch freight cost performance.
- Monitor and maintain KPIs for internal department performance. Monitor and maintain carrier scorecards to ensure that transportation partners meet cost and service requirements, and that new business is awarded according to performance.
- Manage and maintain effective processes for freight quotes, booking, status reporting, and performance reporting.
- Ensure SOX compliance throughout the transportation management process.
- Develop and maintain route guides for regular and high-volume lanes to ensure sites and coordinators have the tools required to effectively execute.
- Manage resolution of freight claims to ensure the customer and Natures Touch exposure is minimized, and issues are resolved quickly.
- Coach and mentor Logistics Supervisor to grow the skills and behaviors required for success in their roles. Provide on-going training for the logistics team, ensuring they are well instructed on how to address day to day issues and customer needs and have been given the tools to be successful.
- Provide direction and support for daily workload, addressing interruptions and challenges in a positive and constructive manner.
- Identify current process requirements, controls, and tools as inputs to the creation of standardized best practices across the logistics team.
- Take a leading role in implementing new processes and ensuring compliance across the team. Address reasons for non-compliance by escalating and enlisting support as needed.
- Provide change management leadership to the team and for partner functions. Identify risks and assist in the development and implementation of solutions in the areas of people, process, and technology as the organization continues to evolve and grow.
- Work with operations scheduling production
- Other duties assigned as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct reports subject to change based on the business needs.
Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related major required.

Travel Requirements
Some travel may be required to various SunOpta locations and for meetings or other job-related functions.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
Approximately 90% of work is performed in office environment, 10% off-site including plants, off-site and trainings.
