Description
Logistics Manager Position Summary: Responsible for ensuring quality of work and productivity by maintaining and overseeing inventory, and distribution and raw good materials logistics. Supervises the shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations to ensure maximum efficiency and space utilization. Coordinates the scheduling of product shipments to ensure orders are filling in a timely manner and meeting our customer expectations. Responsible for the supervision of staff including training, coaching, motivating, and ensuring adherence to the company’s operating processes and procedures.
Logistics Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyzes inventory and delivery conditions to determine present and future finished goods availability and prepares customer service reports.
- Directs personnel to prepare and issue shipment schedules.
- Confers with Production Manager to insure that operations material needs and inventory objectives are met.
- Ensures Customer On-Time Delivery to meet customer request dates
- Coordinates activities of the distribution warehouse with sales and purchasing departments to ensure availability of product.
- Negotiates rates with for freight shipments.
- Provides a clean, safe work environment.

Logistics Manager Additional Position Information/Details:
- Possess Leadership Skills – has the ability to lead and direct team.
- Experienced and understands of shipping, warehouse management and inventory systems.
- Ability to analyze problems, create solutions, with strong attention to detail.
- Possess good problem solving skills and decision making skills to identify and solve work related issues.
- Strong personal, staff organization and task prioritization skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to develop self, team members, and subordinates.
- Able to identify/set goals and follow through to goal achievement.
- Successful communication skills – both written and verbal. Must be able to communicate across varied levels of the organization.
- Able to train others on forklift operations.May step in to operate a forklift to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping dock to storage or trailer.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft and ERP systems.
Logistics Manager Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Five to ten years' experience in transportation, inventory management and MRP II environments.
- Direct report Supervisory experience
- A working knowledge of Domestic/International shipping requirements required.
