Job Description:
This position will facilitate a school-based fentanyl wastewater testing project. This project aims to address public health concerns related to opioid use through wastewater testing for opioids, data-driven insights, and community engagement. This Environmental Program Specialist will play a key role in building strong relationships with schools, parents, and other stakeholders while ensuring effective project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communication with Schools and Parents: Serve as the primary point of contact for schools and parents, providing updates, addressing concerns, and delivering clear, accessible educational materials.
- Data Analytics and Interpretation: Oversee wastewater sample collection, collaborate with laboratories to interpret testing results, and communicate findings in actionable and understandable ways.
- Program Coordination: Manage project logistics, including sampling schedules and laboratory testing, while ensuring adherence to safety standards and program protocols.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Facilitate meetings and updates with stakeholders to ensure transparency and effective collaboration.
Required qualifications/skills:
- College Degree: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, public health, biology, engineering, or related field.
- Public Health Knowledge: Understanding of public health issues, especially opioid use and wastewater testing methodologies.
