Purchasing Agent

The Opportunity:

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the purchasing, receiving, storing, and issuing of a wide variety of materials and supplies for North Central Health Care. This role will foster ongoing relationships with vendors; with the goal to obtain the best quality products at most competitive prices, while ensuring timely delivery and compliance with company policies and procedures.

The pay range for this role is $21.25 – 23.70, based on experience.

What You’ll Do:

• Maintains regular and predictable on-site attendance.
• Makes day-to-day decisions on purchasing sources and for maintaining liaison with suppliers and representatives regarding the maintenance and the care of purchased supplies and equipment.
• Assists with operations and organization of the central storeroom.
• Ensures prompt and accurate billing of requisitions and delivery of products.
• Collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure purchasing needs are met to include review of grant contracts/guidance for allowable purchases.

• Partners with managers and directors to drive procurement policy compliance, obtaining quotes as needed to facilitate informed decision-making.

• Corresponds with and communicates frequently to vendors relative to prices, substitutions, damaged material, inquiries, quotations, misrepresentations, purchase orders and contracts.
• Demonstrates knowledge of accounting practices and inventory practices.
• Keeps informed of all new materials, commodities, services available in the health care and mental health care fields, advised higher level administrative personnel, on availability of commodities, services, and equipment.
• Oversees the maintenance of all storeroom records and for the prompt and accurate billing of requisitions.
• Cross-trained and able to perform duties of the central supply clerk and health unit purchasing agent as needed.
• Fiscally responsible; evaluating and comparing prices, quality and delivery terms seeking to purchase items of necessary quality for the lowest possible price.
• Identifies problems and uses logical analysis to find information, understand causes, and manage change.

What You Bring:

• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field.
• One to three years’ experience in institutional purchasing or large-scale buying, preferably involving hospital-related supplies.
• Strong written and oral communication.
• Great attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Good time management practices.
