The Central Operations and Materiel Services (COMS) Department of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking an Administrative Specialist.

What you will do as an Administrative Specialist for DHHS Central Operations:
Minimum Qualifications: At least one year of post high school coursework or experience in: administration, office management, accounting, finance, planning, policy analysis and implementation, administrative/management analysis, operations research, program evaluation, research, or similar fields or in a field related to the programs or functions of the employing agency.
Special Notes Applicable to Administrative Specialist: Some positions may require experience and/or training that is unique to the work assigned; a valid driver’s license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation; and/or criminal history background checks and other specific background check protocols for their agency.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge: Understanding of security systems, particularly C-CURE or similar access control software, is essential. Familiarity with building plans, technical drawings, and electrical systems is important to ensure compatibility with security components. Knowledge of security protocols and emergency management, especially during events like floods or power outages, is crucial.
Skills: Strong troubleshooting and maintenance skills for security systems, including resolving software and hardware issues. Proficiency in using hand and power tools to install and maintain security components like badge readers, door hardware, and cameras. Ability to create and deliver clear training on access procedures and security protocols, and communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Abilities: Ability to assess situations and find solutions during normal operations and emergencies. Manage multiple priorities and adapt in high-pressure situations. Collaborate effectively with teams, vendors, and agencies. Make decisions regarding security, including when to involve external vendors or escalate issues. Oversee security system recovery across multiple locations after emergencies and perform installations with attention to detail.

What you will do as an Administrative Specialist for DHHS Central Operations:
- C-CURE Software Management: Program and configure C-CURE software for secure locations, doors, and access groups; set up new sites, users, events, and groups.
- Field Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Troubleshoot and resolve security system issues both remotely and on-site, including software and hardware problems. Install, repair, and replace security components, such as badge readers, servers, door hardware, and cameras.
- Building Systems & Installations: Ensure electrical systems are compatible with access controls; install and replace door components and security cameras using hand and power tools.
- Site Assessments & Emergency Response: Conduct site assessments during emergencies (e.g., floods, power outages) and recommend closures, notifying leadership and HR. Manage recovery efforts for 73 locations, including 7 24/7 secure facilities.
- Training & Development: Develop and deliver training on building access and unauthorized entry.
- Building Plans & Security Analysis: Read and interpret building plans and technical drawings to determine secure access point locations based on budget and requirements.
- Coordination & Support: Provide backup for move coordination, including monitoring and coordinating office furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) changes across locations.
