Stern Law is seeking an experienced and dedicated Associate Attorney to join our Criminal Defense team. The ideal candidate will represent clients in various criminal cases, providing expert legal counsel, conducting research, and presenting evidence in court. This role involves developing defense strategies, negotiating with prosecutors, and advocating for clients at every stage of the legal process.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Representation: Represent clients in court proceedings, including arraignments, hearings, trials, and appeals.
- Legal Research & Case Strategy: Conduct thorough legal research to develop case strategies, defenses, and solutions.
- Client & Witness Interaction: Interview clients, witnesses, and other relevant parties to gather evidence and build a strong defense.
- Legal Documentation: Draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, pleadings, and agreements.
- Plea Negotiations: Negotiate plea deals with prosecutors when appropriate.
- Advocacy & Communication: Advocate for clients' rights and interests at all stages of the legal process and maintain clear communication with clients.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to ensure effective case management.
- Trial Attendance: Attend and represent clients in trials as required by case demands.
- Ongoing Professional Development: Stay up to date with developments in criminal law and continue professional growth.
- Bilingual in Spanish (required) to facilitate strong communication with a diverse client base.
- Extensive knowledge of criminal law, legal procedures, and court systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and case management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage high-pressure situations and meet tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Effective negotiation and advocacy skills in high-stakes scenarios.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics.
- Proficient in legal research and drafting legal documents.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active Georgia Bar License.
- A minimum of five years of legal experience as a licensed attorney.
- Experience in Criminal Defense Law is required.
- Trial experience is highly preferred.
- This position may require occasional travel or irregular hours based on case demands.
