The English Department at NWU invites applications for a one-year, Visiting Assistant Professor of English - Creative Writing position with a specialization in the teaching of fiction and/or poetry. Experience relevant to coordinating a writers' series and advising a student literary journal is desirable. Period of appointment: August 2025-May 2026. Candidates with experience teaching introductory courses in literature are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
Duties include teaching undergraduate fiction and/or poetry workshops, serving as a reader for senior thesis creative projects, teaching first-year writing courses, advising the student literary magazine, and running a multi-event annual visiting writers' series.

Qualifications
- MFA or doctorate in English/creative writing or closely related field from an accredited institution by August 2025.
- Applicants must have a publication record in fiction or poetry and demonstrate excellence in teaching.
- Demonstrated commitment to student-centered active learning and student engagement.
- Work ethic that promotes teamwork, enhances creativity and motivation, and builds consensus in an academic environment.
- Understanding of and appreciation for the liberal arts tradition.
