What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Support-System Administrator position at Nelson Connects?
Our client in West Sacramento is on the hunt for a talented Tier 1 & 2 IT Support-System Administrator. This position is eligible for US or Canadian Citizens, or those with a Green Card. The right candidate will be working in conjunction with their MSP to perform the following:
- Installation and configuration of network hardware and software, including operating systems, applications a network devices
- Maintenance of network and equipment - performing regular system checks to maintain system stability and performance
- Implement and enforce security policies, managing user access controls, monitoring for potential security threats, and performing vulnerability scans
- Anti-virus software - ensure up to date
- Hardware Encryption
- Two-factor authentication
- Installing and removing desktop and laptop computers as required
- Installing and uninstalling software packages as required (both on-site and remotely)
- Upgrading and patching computer systems' OS as required
- Troubleshooting, upgrading, and fixing problems with computer hardware and software Conducting periodic maintenance on desktop systems as required
- Assisting with user administration including adding users, removing users, assigning appropriate permissions and conducting password resets
SOX Controls
- Work with Finance to ensure internal and external audit controls are compliant and perform audit walkthroughs as needed
- Perform custodian of access activities and ensuring all is in line with SOX controls and change management
- Perform User Access Reviews and NetSuite Access Reviews
- Enables employees to request support for hardware and software issues through a ticketing system Tracks ticket status and resolution - escalate to MSP as needed for complex issues
- Conduct Software Reviews for new software requests & implementation of new software to employees
Educational / Qualification requirements
- IT focused college level education
- Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows, macOS, etc.)
- Proficiency in network administration and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Fully proficient with Active Directory, WSUS, and group policy
- Knowledge of system security best practices
- Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash) for automation
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with users and other teams
Relevant experience and competencies
- 2 years’ System Administration experience
- 3 years’ Help Desk support experience
- 2 years Cybersecurity experience to include SIEMs
- 1-2 years experience with customer service in a corporate enterprise environment
- Experience with troubleshooting IT hardware and software components
- Experience with Windows server 2012 & up
- Experience with Google Workspace & M365
- Experience with Smartsheet creating and updating workflows
- Experience with BOX, OKTA or equivalent identity and access management platform
- Experience with switch configuration & firewall maintenance
- Windows System Administrator Experience with remote help desk software
- Experience with networking
- Experience writing SOPs
- Microsoft Certified
- Experience with NetSuite - Nice to Have
Salary : $90,000 - $130,000
