Position Overview:
We are seeking a Director of Emergency Services to oversee the operations of a busy Emergency Department (ED) in Tallahassee, FL. This leadership role is crucial to ensuring high-quality patient care, improving service metrics, and driving department growth. You will lead a dynamic team, implementing policies, developing staff, and advancing the patient experience in the ED. Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead the Emergency Services Department, ensuring effective staffing, operations, and performance.
- Coach and mentor immediate subordinates, providing feedback and development opportunities.
- Foster strong relationships and networks to meet departmental and organizational goals.
- Quality Improvement:
- Develop and implement processes to ensure consistent, high-quality care and patient safety.
- Monitor and evaluate key performance metrics, taking action to improve outcomes.
- Oversee compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies, ensuring standards are met.
- Strategic Planning & Development:
- Develop an ongoing emergency services program that aligns with the hospital's mission.
- Participate in hospital-wide committees to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Lead efforts to advance the patient experience agenda in the ED.
- Operational Excellence:
- Ensure the department is in line with hospital policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and operational decisions to drive department success.
- Staff Development & Retention:
- Support the recruitment of new talent and retention of current staff.
- Engage in employee rounding, identifying and mentoring future leaders.
- Promote employee engagement practices to maintain a motivated, effective team.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of recent experience as a Director of Emergency Services in a large acute care facility.
- Proven ability to improve key metrics, patient experience, and overall departmental performance.
- Experience with leading a team of ~45 FTEs in a fast-paced, high-volume ED.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Required).
- Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field (Preferred).
- Licensure & Certifications:
- Active RN license in the state where you will be practicing.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with mentoring and coaching staff and managers.
- Proven track record of improving operational efficiency, patient outcomes, and employee satisfaction.
