TITLE: Routing Specialist
PAY RANGE 17: $21.23 to $22.33(Based on education and experience) January Wage Scale
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly (Non-Exempt); 8 hours/day; Twelve (12) Month Position
LOCATION: Transportation Department
REPORTS TO: Director and Assistant Director of Transportation

SUMMARY: Schedules, coordinates and communicates the student bus assignments by performing the responsibilities listed below.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalency. Some college or an Associate’s Degree preferred.
- Prior routing experience and/or logistics experience is highly desirable.
- Two years of job experience or two years successful employment within this district or in another of comparable size.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Hold or be able to obtain within 1 year of employment Class B CDL with P and S Endorsements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate, schedule, and communicate the assignment of students to school buses.
- Maintain communication with administration, parents and teachers concerning bus schedules.
- Complete Transfinder’s Routefinder Plus courses.
- Maintain STP Bus Information binders as needed.
- Plan, set-up and update the school bus routes and schedules.
- Process incoming and outgoing correspondence as instructed.
- Audit routes bi-annually to insure route efficiency.
- Address concerns from parents, school administrators, bus drivers and aides, and the motoring public regarding transportation issues.
- Answer phones & dispatch as needed throughout daily operations.
- Use Microsoft Office and Google Suite to prepare a wide variety of reports, policies and contracts.
- Assist/Implement any training to stay current with State and Federal Guidelines, in correlation with Training and Compliance Coordinator.
- Collect and verify payroll data on Driver’s; report payroll data to payroll department for processing.
- Cross trained to schedule special needs bus routes.
- Aide or drive on a bus when needed.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the administration.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
