Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Preconstruction Manager (or Senior Electrical Estimator) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating and preconstruction management, with experience in large-scale projects within sectors such as Healthcare, Mission Critical, and Aviation. The role requires the ability to lead a team of estimators, manage complex electrical estimates, and foster long-term customer relationships. A hands-on approach to training junior team members and expertise in budget development and negotiation are essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of electrical estimators to produce large and complex estimates for future projects.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, assisting junior estimators with decision-making and providing necessary support.
  • Oversee the bid process, ensuring timely and accurate proposal preparation.
  • Maintain customer relationships and promote repeat business through excellent communication and customer satisfaction.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy and professionalism of estimates submitted by other team members.
  • Collaborate with the construction team and other departments to resolve scope issues and review cost impacts.
  • Assist in business development efforts, including maintaining relationships with clients and supporting proposals.
  • Draft estimate-specific scope letters detailing inclusions and exclusions in electrical proposals.
  • Take lead responsibility for managing the Accubid database for project take-offs and quantification.
  • Review and analyze vendor and subcontractor pricing to ensure alignment with project scope and budget.
  • Provide detailed cost analysis and review across a variety of project types.
  • Understand equipment and schedule impacts on project timelines and budgets.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with at least one (preferably multiple) of Healthcare, Mission Critical, Aviation market sectors.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects ranging from $5M to $50M.
  • Proficiency with Accubid or Accubid Anywhere software.
  • Strong background in electrical contracting, including experience as an electrician, project manager, division manager, or estimator.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Excellent skills in computer systems, print reading, and overall project estimation.
  • Strong communication and business development skills, with the ability to lead and mentor junior team members.
  • Communicate with customers and team members to clarify scope and resolve any issues related to estimates.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships to foster repeat business.
  • Provide support for Construction and Special Projects, including work breakdowns, estimating hours, handling large change requests, and addressing scope inclusions.
  • Collaborate effectively with Low Voltage, Fire Alarm, and Security vendors and teammates.
  • Perform business development tasks to maintain and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Draft estimate-specific scope letters to clarify inclusions and exclusions in electrical proposals.
  • Take the lead in managing the Accubid database to ensure proper take-off and quantification processes.
  • Review vendor and subcontractor pricing to confirm accuracy and alignment with project scope.
  • Provide cost analysis and reviews for various types of projects.
  • Understand the impact of equipment and schedule on project timelines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
