What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at New Energy Works?
We’re seeking a Controller to join our passionate and creative team in Farmington, NY. Reporting directly to the CAO, this hands-on management role oversees company-wide accounting activities and ensures timely, accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience managing complex accounting and ERP systems while driving process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the month-end financial close process, including financial reporting & analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow projections, and sales tax compliance.
- Maintain financial systems, oversee asset and inventory management, and ensure GAAP compliance.
- Drive continuous improvements in accounting processes and ERP software platforms.
- Manage external audits and reviews by CPA firms and insurance carriers.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional growth opportunities for the accounting team.
- Collaborate with business leaders to deliver consistent financial reporting to support operational decision-making.
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or related.
- Demonstrated expertise with Acumatica or other ERP software
- High degree of proficiency with Excel.
- Background in manufacturing or construction accounting
- Experience with socially and environmentally conscious business models.
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to interact at all organizational levels.
- CPA or CMA certification.
- 8 years of progressive experience preparing comprehensive financial statements and reports and presenting and informing insights, variances and trends to leadership.
