What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at New Energy Works?
Overview
This role, reporting to the Controller, will be a partner in building and developing the accounting functions at the company. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting in preparation of the monthly reporting package and related reconciliations, as well as the management and support of key areas of the business including our credit card platform. The Staff Accountant will help drive improvements in accounting systems and processes.
Core Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience handling financial reporting & analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, asset / inventory management, and financial systems maintenance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work closely with employees at all levels in the organization.
- Familiar with MS office products – advanced Excel user.
- Attention to detail and follow through with time sensitive requests in a fast-paced environment, ability to meet deadlines and work independently
- Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Previous experience and expertise with ERP software, Acumatica preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing or construction environment, preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with month-end and year-end close, including general ledger reconciliations and journal entries
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card statements
- Assist in preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested.
- Assist with refining current month end close procedures across functions to a timely accounting close.
- Support annual review with outside accounting firm.
- Assist in inventory management and control
- Assist in implementing department process improvements
- Other tasks as directed by the Controller.
- Act as backup for other coworkers on Finance team

Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
