Rochester Midland Corporation, a leading manufacturer and global supplier of specialty chemicals is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant responsible for the execution of routine accounting functions, including month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules. This position will ensure Finance adds maximum value to the company by supporting business objectives through accurate and timely financial processes.
This is a hybrid position. Working a minimum of 3 days in the office per week is required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger
- Execute month-end close procedures, including preparing and posting journal entries, identifying and resolving account discrepancies, and researching variances as needed
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Review, verify and post previous day sales batch activity for all accounts
- Prepare and post monthly intercompany transactions between entities
- Maintain the fixed assets schedule and record depreciation calculations
- Support the preparation of year-end audit and review schedules for the CPA firm
- Perform detailed account analyses and reconciliations as required
- Complete additional duties as assigned or requested
EDUCATION/ SPECIAL LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
- CPA is a plus
- Experience with merger & acquisition transactions is a plus
EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated experience in accounting, financial analysis, and financial reporting
- 4 years of experience in various accounting functions, including a strong working knowledge of GAAP
SKILLS:
- Microsoft GP experience is a strong plus
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to work independently, effectively prioritize, and manage deadlines under pressure
