    NEW FAIRFIELD BOARD OF EDUCATION

    POSITION: Curriculum and Instruction Leader Literacy (K-5)

    SCHOOL: Elementary School

    REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent and Building Principals

    GENERAL DUTIES:
    The Curriculum and Instruction Leader (CIL) for K-5 Literacy plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality teaching and learning in literacy for the New Fairfield Public Schools, improving student achievement, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement among teachers and students. The K-5 Literacy CIL provides leadership in the areas of literacy (reading and writing) curriculum design, instruction, assessment, data analysis, and professional learning within and across the grade levels. The CIL is responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and providing feedback to teachers. The role builds teacher capacity, promotes teacher reflection, and fosters understanding of best practices related to New Fairfield’s curriculum, instruction, and assessment systems.

    QUALICATIONS:
    • Valid Connecticut teaching certification (or eligible) appropriate to the specific assignment.
    • A Master's degree in Literacy or a related field is preferred.
    • Minimum of five years teaching experience with literacy curriculum design experience and instructional excellence.
    • Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise in the realm of literacy; ability to apply Science of Reading principles to instructional practice in the classroom.
    • Understanding of assessment strategies (formative and summative) and the analysis of assessment data to inform instruction at the student, class, grade, and school level.
    • Knowledge of Adult Learning Theory to inform coaching and professional learning for staff.
    • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to provide feedback and foster a professional community of learners.
    • Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback.
    • Demonstrated evidence of professional growth, including leadership and participation in a wide range of significant professional development activities.

    POSITION TO START: School Year 2025-2026

    SALARY: Per NFEA Contract, additional $1500 annual stipend
