REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent and Building Principals
GENERAL DUTIES:
The Curriculum and Instruction Leader (CIL) for K-5 Literacy plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality teaching and learning in literacy for the New Fairfield Public Schools, improving student achievement, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement among teachers and students. The K-5 Literacy CIL provides leadership in the areas of literacy (reading and writing) curriculum design, instruction, assessment, data analysis, and professional learning within and across the grade levels. The CIL is responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and providing feedback to teachers. The role builds teacher capacity, promotes teacher reflection, and fosters understanding of best practices related to New Fairfield’s curriculum, instruction, and assessment systems.
