Position Summary
The Sr. Title Officer/Examiner will search public records and examine titles to determine legal condition of primarily residential property title. Copy or summarize recorded documents which affect the condition of title to the property. Works independently and uses experience to examine title to real property, ranging in complexity, to determine status and establish chain of title. This is a unique opportunity to join a newly established Home Builder owned Title Agency starting up in Texas to provide general management and title examination specific expertise, guidance, and ultimately opportunity to lead other examiners as the homebuilder expands.

Position Summary

Works independently and uses experience to examine title to real property, ranging in complexity, to determine status and establish chain of title. This is a unique opportunity to join a newly established Home Builder owned Title Agency starting up in Texas to provide general management and title examination specific expertise, guidance, and ultimately opportunity to lead other examiners as the homebuilder expands.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, however other duties may be assigned:
- Act as the primary title liaison between senior management, buyers, lenders, and First American closing offices.
- Responsible for the overall office management for title production.
- Responsible for ensuring the operational business models and business plans of (builder), (mortgage) and (agency) are being strictly adhered to.
- Responsible for compliance with all state and federal rules, regulations and guidelines.
- Assist in the creation and formalization of policies and procedures related to compliance with ALTA’s Best Practices and all new CFPB regulatory changes.
- Assist in the creation and formalization of policies and procedures related to the protection of Non-Public Personal Information (NPPI) and receiving and managing all consumer complaints.
- Take and pass any certifications, continuing education, licensing requirements, and/or required internal education courses or webinars.
- Develop and implement procedural guidelines and best practices
- Provide Audit/Regulatory support for title agency
- Manage local settlement service providers and underwriter relationships across the markets served
- Prepare and provide monthly revenue reporting, as requested
- This position requires ongoing production of title products by the senior title manager. This is a “producing” manager position.
- Performs title examination and examines the chain of title for a wide range of title orders, primarily residential
- Abstract and analyze records, such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books, to verify legal description of property and completeness of records, determine ownership and legal restrictions, and establish chain of title for home builder residential title orders
- Prepares initial title commitment documentation based on the application of procedural guidelines
- Autonomously resolve issues, including missing information, incomplete, inaccurate or contradictory information contained in the title documentation
- Provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines
- Prepare, review and manage reporting related to open orders, title commitments, closings, title policies, etc.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Position Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience)
- Minimum 6 years of progressively responsible title experience managing TX title agency.
- Previous leadership and management experience, strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred, but not required)
- Must currently meet Texas title insurance license requirements (including license as escrow officer)
- Experience utilizing various title plants, across multiple markets
- Strong technology orientation, including proficiency among various title agency software systems (including SoftPro)
- Must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

- Excellent organizational skills
