Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Shelter Monitor to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals residing in the shelter. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage conflicts, and a commitment to providing support to those in need. The Shelter Monitor will be responsible for maintaining a positive environment while addressing the needs of residents.

Responsibilities

• Supervise shelter residents and ensure compliance with facility rules and regulations.
• Provide support and guidance to residents, assisting them with behavioral health needs.
• Conduct regular checks of the facility to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Facilitate conflict resolution among residents, employing effective conflict management strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of resident interactions, incidents, and services provided.
• Implement behavior management techniques to promote a positive living environment.
• Respond promptly to crises, utilizing crisis intervention skills as necessary.
• Communicate effectively with team members and external service providers regarding resident needs.

Requirements

• Experience or education in social work, behavioral health, or a related field is preferred.
• Certification in crisis intervention or behavioral management is a plus but no required
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective interaction with residents and staff.
• Ability to manage conflicts calmly and professionally.
• Must be able to file documentation accurately and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• A compassionate approach towards individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis situations is crucial.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.14 - $12.25 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
