Job Overview
Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervise and train a team of staff to deliver consistent and high-quality emergency shelter services.

2. Provide services that are high quality, consistent, and in accordance with the Shelter mission, vision, and values.

3. Manage guest records, data, and reports per the operation of the shelter, to ensure accuracy, confidentiality and security of data.

4. Work with a team of Shelter Leads to ensure all policy and procedures are followed.

5. Help manage iVolunteer software and volunteer scheduling with Volunteer Manager guidance.

Key Responsibility #1: Supervise and train a team of staff to deliver consistent and high-quality emergency shelter services.

So That:

  • A trauma-informed workplace is achieved and maintained, demonstrating a balance of kindness, competence and care toward self, others with whom we work, and those for whom we serve.
  • Shelter Staff receive job training and are able to perform their job duties while understanding the broader Safe Harbor mission and vision.
  • Shelter Shift Leads receive appropriate job training as well as professional development in order to meet their responsibilities while understanding the broader Safe Harbor mission and vision.
  • Regularly scheduled meetings are facilitated with all staff to communicate about emerging and on-going shelter business, so that all staff attend and are actively engaged in required meetings.
  • Shelter shift schedules are created in a timely fashion, and all shifts are adequately covered.

Key Responsibility #2: Provide services that are high quality, consistent, and in accordance with the Shelter mission, vision and values.

So That:

  • Guests receive trauma informed services consistent with operational policies, in a safe, clean and healthy environment.
  • Staff delivers trauma-informed intervention and seeks to support and assist in difficult or emergency guest situations.
  • A viable appeals process is followed for all guests respectfully, timely, and consistent to Shelter policies, procedures, and mission—including any and all requests for possible accommodations.
  • Tracking and monitoring systems are accurate and up-to-date on a daily basis, including bed charts, shift changeover information, guest messages, and staff log and any other necessary and pertinent information.

Key Responsibility #3: Manage guest records, files, and reports to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and security of files.

So That:

  • Confidentiality in guest information is maintained at all times.
  • Entry and exit information is reported to staff through clearly established channels on a regular basis.
  • Appropriate program forms pertinent to guest confidentiality are organized, as complete as possible, and secure (ie New Guest/ROI forms).
  • All Shelter employees are properly trained in entry procedures and accurate data entry.

Key Responsibility #4: Work with a team of Shelter Leads to ensure all policies and procedures are followed.

So That:

  • There is active engagement with Shelter Leads to work towards improvements in programming and service delivery.
  • There is active engagement during required Shelter Leads meetings, in order to problem solve and streamline services while understanding and honoring the mission and vision of the shelter
  • There is encouragement and empowerment for Shelter Leads to do the work needed alongside a team of others in ways that are effective and efficient and best serve the needs of guests.

Key Responsibility #5: Work with Volunteer Manager using iVolunteer software so as to aid in managing volunteer scheduling as necessary (up to 15 hrs. per week?)

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the homeless or similar population.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to lead, guide and empower other staff members

  • Ability to consider an entire situation, use discretion and make sound decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective team member.

Understanding and delivery of trauma informed care, approaches and practices. Ability to deal effectively with conflict and crisis.

  • Ability to put emphasis on personal care, when needed.
  • Ability to maintain a compassionate and servant heart while also keeping the safety of the overall shelter, its staff, guests and volunteers in the forefront at all times.
  • Ability to remain mobile during the entire shift.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (provided).
  • Narcan Training (provided).
  • Mental Health management knowledge and training (provided).
  • Completion and understanding of Safe Harbor specific training programs, modules, workshops and resources (provided).
  • Reliable transportation.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience with area services, community partners, and resources desired.
  • Ability to work all shifts as needed.
  • Experience in program management and supervision of staff.
  • Experience in human services or a related field is preferred.
  • Comfortable in a computer/data entry based environment.
  • Commitment to shelter mission, vision and values.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $23.56 per hour
