POSITION DESCRIPTION
- All front desk staff MUST wear the designated uniform authorized by the organization.
- All front desk staff are required to maintain effective communication between the front desk and clinical staff.
- Receive incoming telephone calls and provides assistance as needed. Transfer calls to appropriate department or person. Forward messages in a timely manner.
- Greet patients and visitors give instructions to direct the patient or visitor to the appropriate department or person.
- Maintain daily patient appointment scheduling, answer incoming telephone calls, and make patient appointment reminder calls if necessary.
- Register and/or update patient demographic information into the patient accounting system on a daily basis.
- Complete certification/recertification process for patients eligible for sliding fee discount based upon established criteria.
- Collect and enter patient payments, advance payments and payments on account into the patient accounting system on a daily basis.
- Maintains a neat/well-organized work area.
- Notify supervisor and/or management of presence of suspicious activity observed in or around Center property.
- Must hold all patient Protected Health Information (PHI) other patient personal information and agency information in confidence, in accordance with the attached Employee Confidentiality Statement, which I have read, understand and signed.
- Must immediately report maintenance and repair issues for the Mobile Medical Team – Mobile Unit to the Facilities Director and the Program Coordinator.
- Actively participate in and comply with all aspects of the NHFHS Corporate Compliance Program, follow the Program Code of Conduct and obey all relevant laws, statutes, regulations and requirements applicable to Medicaid, Medicare and other State and Federal health care programs.
- Perform end of day tasks and reporting.
- Observe schedule for work, lunch and breaks.
- Participates in CQI, other internal committees, special projects/observances or activities that promote improvements in organizational performance and/or advance the mission, goals, and objectives of New Horizon Family Health Services.
- Performs all services on an assigned status at places and times as directed by the Program Coordinator.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor, CEO or designee in their absence.
Education
A minimum of high school diploma or equivalent. Medical Office Training certificate or other relevant education and training beyond high school preferred.
Experience
- Preferably two (2) years’ experience in a medical office or other healthcare facility setting.
- Demonstrates basic math computation skills.
- Has the ability to speak and communicate effectively with co-workers, patients and the public.
- Has the ability to understand and follow in detail both verbal and written instructions.
- Exercises discretion and sound judgment when dealing with patients, visitors and co-workers.
- Must have working knowledge of computer programs and professional construction of emails
- Must demonstrate the ability to accept responsibility as indicated.
- Must be a motivated and enthusiastic learner.
- Must present a courteous, tactful, and professional attitude and demeanor
- Must demonstrate the ability to work under stress and work well with others.
- Follows NHFHS policies and procedures including personal visits and phone calls
