Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team. This position offers a stable, daytime work schedule, Monday through Friday with the possibility of a Saturday, and no nights or weekends. Enjoy paid holidays and a professional work environment. While not mandatory, experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Certified Medical Technician (CMT) is highly valued. The ideal candidate will have experience in collecting samples, conducting diagnostic laboratory tests, and accurately recording results using analytical equipment.
Responsibilities:
Specimen Handling:
- Reconcile computer orders with specimen labels to ensure accuracy.
- Sort, verify labeling, and log in specimens efficiently.
- Identify and report any abnormal patient conditions.
- Laboratory Testing:
- Perform chemical procedures on patient specimens using analytical equipment.
- Conduct rigorous quality control procedures and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure all instrument maintenance and calibration are performed according to established protocols.
- Calculate results accurately and prepare comprehensive laboratory reports.
- Inventory and Procedures:
- Manage and maintain stock of all laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies.
- Adhere to established protocols for analysis and quality procedures.
- Effectively prioritize workload and handle STAT procedures with precision.
- Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills to resolve issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety practices.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Proven phlebotomy experience.
- High School Diploma or Certificate.
- Proficiency in English, both written and oral.
- Strong communication and reasoning skills.
- Ability to manage stress effectively.
- Familiarity with bloodborne pathogens and hazardous chemicals.
- Technical proficiency in routine testing within three months of hire.
- Preferred:
- CMT/MLT Certification.
- Associates degree in laboratory science.
- Supervisory Experience.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous chemicals is expected.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb stairs and lift up to 35 lbs.
- Excellent visual and auditory acuity.
- Ability to walk, bend, and stand or sit for extended periods.
- Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- Appropriate attire to prevent exposure to pathogens and bodily secretions.
Reporting Structure:
- Directly reports to the Laboratory Supervisor/Clinic Manager.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
