What are the responsibilities and job description for the Donor Accounting Specialist position at New Life Church of Woodbury?
The Donor Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of donor contributions to the organization. This role includes receiving donations, issuing receipts, and expressing ongoing gratitude to donors for their generous support. It will also involve tracking donor-funded projects to ensure gifts are used appropriately in a timely manner and reported on for impact. The specialist will ensure accurate and efficient accounting of donations while maintaining a positive relationship with donors. This position collaborates with the Advancement and Finance Teams.
Donation Tracking:
- Record and monitor all incoming donations using the organization’s donor management system.
- Reconcile donation entries with bank transactions to ensure accuracy.
- Manage donation workflow to ensure that donor intent is followed, and that the donor sees the direct impact of their giving so they can experience the joy of their generosity.
Receipts and Acknowledgments:
- Prepare and issue tax-deductible donation receipts in compliance with legal requirements.
- Develop and send personalized thank-you letters or emails to donors to acknowledge their contributions.
Reporting:
- Generate financial reports related to donations, including monthly and annual summaries.
- Provide insights on donor giving trends and patterns for fundraising strategy improvement.
- Oversee constituent management, queries, reports, lists, and constituent information needed for direct mail and other related projects as required. Donor Relationship Management:
- Maintain up-to-date records of donor information and engagement history.
- Assist in donor communications and manage responses to inquiries related to contributions.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the fundraising and finance teams to support overall donation processes.
- Participate in donor appreciation events and initiatives.
- Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience in nonprofit accounting or fundraising is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in donor management software and spreadsheets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
