The hiring rate will be the sum of the statutory hiring rate for CSEA Grade 12 ($48,956) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,400). The job rate will be the sum of the statutory job rate ($59,757) and the Downstate Adjustment ($3,400).

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor 1, SG-14, the Trades Generalist, SG-12 at Rockland Lake Garage will perform motor and heavy equipment repair. Duties will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Perform journey-level motor and heavy equipment repair on park vehicles and equipment.
- Perform replacement of rusted or damaged body parts.
- Perform metal fabrication, plasma cutting, and mechanical repairs, including engine and drive line repairs, brake and front-end work, electronic diagnosis, and emission repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment as well as engine and component repair of construction equipment.
- Lay out work and diagnose problems; read and interpret plans, diagrams, and specifications.
- Perform supervisory duties, ensuring that instructions have been followed and the quality of work is satisfactory.
- Perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
OPERATING NEEDS:
- Must possess or obtain a valid Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License*** during the probationary period that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.
- Must possess or obtain a New York State Vehicle Inspector’s license during the probationary period and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.
- Must have a working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the craft to which assigned and can train others.
- Under the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (1991), this position has been designated Safety Sensitive. The incumbent is required to participate in pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
