Duties Description Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor 1, SG-14, the Trades Generalist, SG-12 at Rockland Lake Garage will perform motor and heavy equipment repair. Duties will include, but not be limited to the following: • Perform journey-level motor and heavy equipment repair on park vehicles and equipment. • Perform replacement of rusted or damaged body parts.• Perform metal fabrication, plasma cutting, and mechanical repairs, including engine and drive line repairs, brake and front-end work, electronic diagnosis, and emission repairs. • Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment as well as engine and component repair of construction equipment. • Lay out work and diagnose problems; read and interpret plans, diagrams, and specifications.• Perform supervisory duties, ensuring that instructions have been followed and the quality of work is satisfactory.• Perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.

Minimum Qualifications OPERATING NEEDS: • Must possess or obtain a valid Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License*** during the probationary period that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.• Must possess or obtain a New York State Vehicle Inspector’s license during the probationary period and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.• Must have a working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the craft to which assigned and can train others.***Under the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (1991), this position has been designated Safety Sensitive.
