Job Summary:
The Associate Counsel (Pre-Trial General Liability/Professional Liability Litigation) will oversee and manage pre-trial litigation matters, focusing on general and professional liability cases. This role requires a strong understanding of plaintiff's litigation and employee-related legal issues, as well as the ability to provide strategic legal counsel to various stakeholders within the organization. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional legal expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to protecting the company's interests.
Pay Range: $150,000 - $170,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Litigation Management: Manage all aspects of pre-trial litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents; conducting legal research; and developing litigation strategies.
- Legal Advice: Provide strategic legal counsel to management on general liability and professional liability matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations while minimizing legal risks.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including HR and Risk Management, to address employee litigation and related issues effectively.
- Case Evaluation: Analyze case strengths and weaknesses, advising on settlement options and preparing cases for trial as necessary.
- External Partnerships: Liaise with outside counsel as needed, managing relationships and coordinating litigation efforts to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for staff on legal issues related to GL/PL litigation and employee-related matters, promoting awareness and compliance across the organization.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized legal records, ensuring all litigation documents are up-to-date and accessible.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in California.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in general liability and professional liability litigation, with a focus on pre-trial matters.
- Strong background in plaintiff’s litigation and employee-related legal issues preferred.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective legal strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple cases and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
