POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior EHS Specialist will work with multiple disciplines and collaborate across multiple sites to integrate EHS programs at the facility in Lansing and Chattanooga with a supporting role in industrial hygiene at the Cleveland facility. The position will lead job hazard analysis to reduce operational risks, develop and integrate EHS training for operations, and be the site point of contact to engage state/government regulators. The successful candidate will have a self-starting attitude and desire to learn and drive continual improvement to drive positive change for NPAA’s EHS culture.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contributes to developing and setting a company's health and safety goal; and implements and maintains on-site safety, environment, and emergency management programs and policies that assure compliance with Federal, State, and local environmental health and safety regulations.
- Executes training programs and trains employees on health and safety in the workplace, including hazardous waste and other occupational and environmental areas.
- Develops and implements incident response policies and provides technical expertise and guidance to examine process failures that lead to workplace accidents and how they impact the environment.
- Investigates and monitors accidents and incidents involving security issues, fire, hazardous materials, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance issues; and assures corrective action recommendations properly addresses necessary procedural changes for the prevention of incidents in the future.
- Evaluates and inspects work sites, equipment, and processes to ensure that all applicable safety laws are being followed. Keeps current with emerging regulatory compliance issues and trends.
- Prepares monthly reports that include records of safety, health, security, and environmental inspections and incidents.
- Coordinate industrial hygiene studies and implement measures to prevent or reduce occupational exposures to permissible levels at all NPAA facilities (Lansing, Cleveland, and Chattanooga).
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health or Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, or related field
- Alternative Associates Degree with five (5) years equivalent work experience with emphasis in Environmental, Health & Safety.
- Professional Safety Certification preferred, such as CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), CHSP (Certified Healthcare Safety Professional), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), CPE (Certified Professional Ergonomist) or similar years of environmental, chemical or safety experience preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in chemical manufacturing or automotive environments preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint experience preferred.
