What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elder's Program Assistant Manager position at Nisqually Indian Tribe?

The Elder's Program Assistant Manager performs assigned duties under the direction of the Elder's Program Manager. This position works closely with the program manager to administer program functions and perform supervisory duties encompassing the management and development of the Elder's program and its projects.

DUTIES

Assist the manager to plan, oversee, and monitor the progress of current programs, grants and contracts.

Assist in supervising subordinate personnel including volunteers.

Assist with and evaluate the attainment of program objectives.

Assist with identifying and developing funding sources and proposals for various projects that contribute to the accomplishment of department goals and needs.

Develop positive working relationships with staff, community members, committee members, Tribal Council and others to accomplish department objectives and preserve positive public relations.

Assist with preparing annual Elder's Program budgets and maintain expenditures within budget limits.

Assist with the preparation and facilitation of the regularly scheduled program activities, projects, and required meetings with staff and volunteers.

Oversees the production and maintenances of necessary reports.

Ensure the professional growth of the Elder's Program staff by supporting and requiring regular training as necessary, using established personnel policies for performance appraisal and addressing performance deficiencies as they are observed.

Ensure proper cleaning, maintenance, and safety of Elder's facility by coordinating and communicating with the necessary tribal programs.

Coordinate and oversee the meal service menu, its costs and ensure proper nutritional requirements are met.

Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to gain a thorough working knowledge of the administration and management of the Elder's Program.

Ability to learn the reporting function of departmental achievements of program goals.

Ability to become proficient in budget management.

Ability to learn to facilitate meetings and work within the cultural and government framework of the Nisqually Indian Tribe.

Ability to learn the functions of department and Elder's Committee relationship to understand the purpose of committee recommendations presented to Tribal council.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Knowledge of the operations of computers and Microsoft Office programs.

Ability to learn supervision, mediation, and negotiation skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Four years of experience in social services, recreation management, or a related field OR a comparable amount of experience and/or education.

Must successfully pass a criminal history background check.

Must have valid Washington State Drivers license and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy.
