You read that right — nJoy Vision is OKC’s awesomest laser vision center, and we are currently looking for a motivated, skilled, and AWESOME ophthalmic technician to join our team in the role of Patient Specialist.

Delivering a fantastic patient experience is our number one priority at nJoy Vision, and the Patient Specialist (PS) plays an integral role in ensuring each of our patients skips gleefully out of our office ready to tell all their friends, family, and social media followers about their nJoy Vision experience.

The PS is responsible for guiding the patient and assisting the doctor through all phases of advanced eye surgery. If you’re a team player and find fulfillment in providing world-class service and care to patients and their referring physicians, you are what we in the biz call a “majestic unicorn.” Let us put your skills and magic to good use at nJoy Vision!

It probably goes without saying, but those skills and magic must include basic eye technician skills and proficiency with a computer and basic computer programs like Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.

Your responsibilities as Patient Specialist will include (more-bullet points, YAY!):

  • Assisting patients in making the life-changing decision to have laser vision surgery, including LASIK, PRK, EVO ICL, Lens Replacement, Laser Cataract Surgery, Corneal Implants, and more!
  • Coordinating patient care with our outstanding referring providers.
  • Promptly and professionally assisting the doctor in patient care and surgical procedures.
  • Performing and assisting in technical workups, patient history intakes, and special testing.
  • Answering all incoming phone calls and requests.
  • Helping with scheduling and logistics of surgical candidates.
  • Communicating with patients and their primary eye care providers regarding follow-up care, procedures, and scheduling.
  • Maintaining eye exam lanes, clinical areas, the surgery suite, and all equipment.

  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to interact with human beings, including but not limited to physicians, staff, patients, and patient family members.
  • The ability to problem solve and self-motivate
  • A dependable team player with a positive attitude.
  • Working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, surgical procedures, and ocular medications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook and basic computer skills, including typing, internet navigation, and saving/retrieving documents.
  • Previous experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR) is desired but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
