About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating export/import operational activities at the branch office, ensuring competitiveness. This involves handling customer demands in collaboration with Sales and the Branch Manager.
Job Responsibilities
- Generate air or ocean bills of lading and supporting export documentation to ensure freight can be exported.
- Contact trucking companies to arrange for pickup of customers' freight.
- Receive freight in warehouse and perform TSA safety checks. Label freight for export.
- Contact air and ocean carriers to book export shipments.
- Closely monitor consolidations.
- Review procedures and implement TSA safety regulations as developed by the Head Office.
- Arrange for import documentation pickup at the airlines.
- Review immediate Transport documents for US Customs.
- Contact outside Customs Brokers to coordinate timely clearance of import freight.
- Correspond with NNR Japan and other overseas agents.
- Provide quotations to customers when sales staff is not present.
- Offer market research support to sales staff.
- Develop proposals for sales staff. Conduct telephone sales to prospective customers.
- Assist sales staff with correspondence, faxes, etc.
- Contact inactive customers to determine shipping status.
- Notify import customers of arrival information.
- Collaborate on account collection efforts.
- Update airline rates for sales department files.
- Foster ongoing customer satisfaction through post-sales contact, providing flight details, maintaining letters of credit, and resolving complaints.
- Maintain and update customer files.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
