The team you'll be part of
Nokia Bell Labs is the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has produced nine Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards and numerous other awards.
You will join a team working on innovative research projects in thermal science, fluid dynamics and material science that are critical to enable Nokia’s future 6G wireless, optical and routing communications platforms. The position involves cutting-edge research on novel single- and two-phase cooling techniques and precision temperature control technologies enabling breakthrough energy efficiency and sustainability of Nokia products.
What you will learn and contribute to
The ideal candidate is an expert in device and package level thermal control and management. You are excited to build a strong research program targeting disruptive solutions for high power density communications systems and to see your innovations impact the world.
Key Responsibilities / Functions:
- Define and carry out creative research programs both individually and in collaboration with other researchers.
- Highly motivated to drive projects from conception to functional prototypes that can be demonstrated in a system-level environment and ultimately delivered into Nokia communications products.
- Interact with researchers in a wider context of Nokia’s businesses to identify challenging problems and generate innovations for the company.
- Develop novel heat management and cooling concepts for very highly integrated opto-electronic transceivers and sub-systems.
- Manage individual priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
Your skills and experience
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Physics or relevant engineering field with an expert level understanding of thermal management science.
- Strong record of disruptive research in academia and/or industry including scientific/technical publications and/or patents.
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills.
- Ability to define and pursue a research program in synergy with larger team.
Desired Experience:
- Multi-phase heat transfer and fluid flow dynamics
- Evaporator, condenser design and optimization
- Experimental multi-phase heat transfer and flow visualization
- Microfluidic channel design and optimization
- Fluid handling and filling techniques for micro-scale devices
- Novel materials and fabrication for micro thermo-electric coolers
- Numerical modelling of heat transfer and/or computational fluid dynamics
