What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Technician - Part Time position at Noland Health Services?
Summary of Duties
Performs technical support functions as directed to the adult and geriatric patient.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains floor stock throughout the hospital.
- Fills and delivers unit dose carts.
- Prepares medications pursuant to medication orders.
- Prepares intravenous admixture solutions.
- Performs repackaging duties as required.
- Enters new medication orders into the computer system.
- Assists with collection and recording of statistical Quality Control information.
- Complies with hospital policies regarding inventory, purchasing, receiving, and storing all pharmaceuticals.
- Processes pharmacy charges.
- Assists in maintaining and properly storing an adequate inventory of pharmacy items; rotates stock and checks expiration dates.
- Processes orders with wholesalers and manufacturers and checks in stock.
- Fills unit dose medications accurately.
- Compounds IV medications accurately.
- Assumes other responsibilities and duties, as assigned, to meet the ongoing needs of the hospital.
Education
High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience
Minimum of six (6) months experience in a pharmacy preferred.
Physical Requirements for Essential Job Functions
- Must be able to transport and/or lift an object intermittently throughout the workday up to a maximum of 20 pounds.
- Must be able to walk, stand, and work for extended periods of time without relief.
- Must possess dexterity of arms, hands, and fingers bilaterally.
- Must be able to work with hands for up to 12 hours a day.
- Must be able to push/pull carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so the requirements of this position can be fully met.
