Job Description
Hours 10:00 am to 6:30 pm
Summary: Receives and verifies paperwork from shipping offices and places tracking numbers on respected pallets and separating by carrier name. After verification the freight handler will sort and move pallets to respected carrier areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, packing lists.
• Reviews Bill of Lading
• Taking the BOL and verifying address information is accurate and placing the proper paperwork on each pallet for the respected order.
• After all pallets have their correct tracking numbers attached to the pallets, the freight handler will begin scanning the pallet ID’s to the respected order showing that the pallet has been loaded to the correct carrier.
• Operates forklift or uses hand truck to load/unload shipments to and from trucks
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
• Other duties may be assigned
