Norfolk State University is embarking on an exciting journey to establish its first formal data governance framework, a key component of a larger transformation in how data is managed and accessed. This effort includes a shift towards a self-service model to facilitate data requests from internal stakeholders, supported by access-restricted data visualization portals. Additionally, the office will play a vital role in the implementation of a new ERP system to manage operational data, providing an opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and higher education.
Job Duties
The position will serve as the primary internal project coordinator for data governance and Institutional Effectiveness (IEP) initiatives. This includes ensuring project success through meticulous coordination, communication, and management of project schedules, budgets, and resources. Regular status updates will be provided to stakeholders, while project risks will be identified and mitigated to ensure timely completion of goals. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to deliver successful project outcomes, from coordinating campus outreach efforts to planning data literacy workshops and managing the IEP website.
The position also entails oversight of the Operations and Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) efforts, including compliance with SACSCOC unit-level outcomes assessment requirements and providing support for the continuous improvement of project management processes. The role involves reviewing annual assessment plans and reports, assisting units in developing measurable outcomes, and providing updates on progress.
