Introduction:
We are looking for an experienced Controller with manufacturing and cost accounting experience to operate as a key leadership team member and interact closely with operations executives to drive business decisions and provide analysis and strategic financial recommendations across the company. This position requires a high degree of critical thinking; and will oversee all day-to-day accounting responsibilities, including but not limited to A/P, A/R, Federal Excise Tax, journal entries and inventory/purchasing.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily finance and accounting activities, as well as budget development
- Drive financial strategy and planning to maximize output and delivery
- Implement and improve order entry accounting processes for the manufacturing plant
- Streamline month-end efficiencies and reconciliation timelines by formalizing processes
- Recommend cost-cutting strategies and improve inventory control
- Maintain consistent compliance with federal regulations (ATF)
- Calculate, review, and ensure accuracy in standard costs, inventory management
- Create KPIs and analytics around purchase price variance and production variances
- Support daily costing process and annual standard cost setting as required
- Review all key metrics of labor daily, creating regular, consolidated reports for GM
- Mentor and manage employees to encourage high-quality performance and skills growth
- Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business required
- MBA and public accounting experience preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment and exposure to costing
- Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and budgeting
- Strong interpersonal skills and critical thinking capabilities, ability to drive change
- Data-driven with the ability to interpret results and make strategic recommendations
- SAGE 100 accounting experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with MS Office and advanced Excel skills (Financial Modeling, Macros)
- High aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
