This Oyster Rehabilitation Biologist provides scientific support for shellfish rehabilitation programs under the Habitat and Enhancement Section. Duties include performing data collection and material deployments in annual operations of shellfish rehabilitation programs. This position will serve as the section’s primary point of contact for shellfish rehabilitation operations in the northern region of Pamlico Sound.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field data collection and analysis
- Development of annual habitat enhancement plans
- Participation on various fishery management advisory groups
- Coordination of field operations for several shellfish rehabilitation programs

Recruitment Range: $49,158 - $51,373

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL the following:
- Demonstrated knowledge of shellfish ecology
- Operation of vessels
- Experience with mapping and/or data analysis software such as ArcGIS, R, Excel
- Experience delivering presentations to the public
Management Preferences:
- SCUBA certification
- Experience operating heavy machinery
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in wildlife or fisheries management, fisheries science, zoology, or a biological science, or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in wildlife or fisheries management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
