The Player Protection Manager in the Regulated Gaming Division manages the review and investigation of player disputes against Commission sports betting licensees, and ensures that licensed gaming operators in our state comply with the law, Commission rules, as well as their own internal controls. Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain regulations for operators’ responsible gaming and advertisement programs that safeguard consumers and minimize harm. Oversee the review of operators’ responsible gaming plans and updates; assess appropriate third-party contractors to conduct third-party reviews of Operator Responsible Gaming Plans.
- Manage the NCSLC Voluntary Self Exclusion Program; including maintaining policy and procedures, coordinating responsibilities with regional claim centers and MIS; and processing petitions for removal. Continuously evaluate the agency’s exclusion programs and industry best practices to make recommendations to the Chief Regulatory Officer and Lottery leadership on programmatic revisions.
- Develop and maintain outreach and educational materials, including handouts, brochures, website content, and presentations focused on responsible gaming and player protection topics.
- Oversee review and investigation into complaint and wager disputes by Player Protection Specialists.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of regulated gaming standards and emerging trends, with particular focus on issues related to the player.
- Collaborate with regulated gaming staff members to gather wagering integrity information from the betting industry, licensees, sports governing bodies, the public, and law enforcement. Synthesize information and provide summary reports to leadership, as requested.
- Establish and maintain relationships with professional sporting teams, governing bodies, collegiate athletic departments, and law enforcement. Work closely together to understand potential threats and help protect the integrity of wagering events.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree, and 3 years of experience in a relevant field (e.g., health sciences, psychology, social work, consumer protection, business, communications, or similar).
- Experience processing regulatory complaints is preferred.
- Experience developing or implementing responsible gaming policy a plus.
- Exhibits an open and constructive leadership style with the knowledge to escalate issues that require supervisory input. Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with diverse groups of people, including gaming licensees, executive management, and other government and regulatory entities.
- Ability to take initiative, strong project and time management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and time sensitive deliverables and learn new topics quickly.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to support a rapidly growing department.
- Professional background demonstrating a track record of integrity and ethical business behavior, consistent with the agency’s values and mission.
- Able to work with confidential information and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to advise leadership and lead teams in the development and implementation of long-term regulatory or compliance initiatives or systems in a highly regulated field.
- Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to distill and present complex information plainly and succinctly.
- Advanced technical skills in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and SharePoint) and the ability to learn appropriate software as necessary. Experience with database and reporting software preferred.
Hiring Rate: $90,487 (this exempt position will be filled at or near the posted salary)
