What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator - Business Development position at North Carolina Sheriffs' Association?
The Coordinator – Business Development is primarily responsible for leading and expanding the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association’s (NCSA) Corporate Partner Program and event sponsorship opportunities. The Coordinator - Business Development is also responsible for supporting the Association’s Honorary Membership Program. This role involves assessing the effectiveness of each part of the Honorary Membership Program to refine messaging and boost engagement based on historical response trends.
The Coordinator – Business Development works with the Association’s Director - Business Development to develop relationships with new and existing Corporate Partners, event and institute sponsors, and advertisers. The Coordinator – Business Development also works with the Director - Business Development and the Honorary Membership Coordinator on supporting the Association’s Digital Marketing Program.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
Corporate Relations Duties
- Expands the Corporate Partner Program through cultivating and soliciting new corporate partners and increasing the level of participation by existing corporate partners
- Develops a comprehensive sponsorship program for all Association events, training classes, and training institutes in cooperation with the Director - Business Development
- Coordinates and cultivates relationships with all Association corporate partners, exhibitors, and sponsors, including maintaining accurate contact data, keeping partners informed of key event dates, and communicating available sponsorship opportunities to maximize their engagement and support
- Creates and suggests new revenue generating initiatives that will result in an increase in annual income
- Works with Association’s Director - Business Development to establish annual goals and implement strategies to meet them
- Evaluates available foundation support of non-profit organizations and seeks foundation support for NCSA’s programs
- Increases exhibitor involvement in Association events and leadership institutes
- Identifies and creates new sponsorship opportunities at the Association’s annual events and leadership institutes
- Coordinates the vendor exhibit hall at the Spring Meeting, Annual Business Conference, and Fall Meeting
- Creates and maintains calendars and inner-office reminders for Corporate Partners, event sponsors, and exhibitors along with other related project deadlines
- Assists Director - Business Development with coordination of the Association’s annual events for optimal sponsor, exhibitor, and Corporate Partner recognition
Honorary Membership and Digital Marketing Duties
- Provides backup to Business Development staff by responding to inquiries from Honorary Members via email, telephone, and US Mail
- Supports Business Development staff with ongoing tracking documentation of all inquiries received from members along with the response sent to each member to provide recommendations on ways to improve the overall member experience
- Assists with maintaining positive relationships with each Honorary Member through providing superior customer service
- Provides ongoing member and customer database support to the Coordinator – Business Development and the Director - Business Development
- Assists staff by ensuring all incoming responses to Honorary Membership solicitations are opened, sorted, and bundled for data processing
- Assists with the Honorary Membership’s postage refund by counting and sorting incoming business reply envelopes
- Responsible for reviewing, editing, and ensuring the accuracy of all Honorary Membership emails and letters by conducting a thorough review process
- Performs a comprehensive analysis of past solicitation performance data. Using this analysis, the Coordinator is responsible for providing the Director – Business Development with recommendations on how to enhance engagement and drive the growth of the Association’s Honorary Membership and Digital Marketing Programs
- Oversee the Association's online membership and donations webpages, ensuring they are functional, properly formatted for optimal user experience, and identifying opportunities for improvements to enhance donor engagement
- Collaborate with external vendors to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Association’s online donation and membership platforms, ensuring seamless functionality and addressing any technical issues as needed
- Provides editorial support to the Director - Business Development on all Honorary Membership mailings and digital marketing materials
- Coordinates all efforts relating to the Association’s quarterly newsletter
- Researches planned giving opportunities and supports the Association’s Planned Giving Program
- Provides administrative assistance to the Director - Business Development, as requested
Other Business Development Projects
- Writes the NCSA lead article for the Association’s weekly E-Newsletter as needed
- Provides support to the Coordinator – Business Development by reviewing and editing the weekly E-Newsletter and ensures validity of links before distribution
- Assists co-workers with planning and executing meetings as necessary
- Assists co-workers as necessary and performs any additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education Requirement: 4-year college degree or equivalent experience
Required Skills:
- Minimum 2-3 years related work experience
- Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and solve problems
- Strong organization and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
