Essential Job Duties

The Temporary Career Development Program Coordinator will support career education initiatives for students, faculty, and staff, with a focus on First-Year Student Career Coaching and Program Administration. This role includes delivering training programs, tracking participation, and enhancing career identity resources. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about career development and student success.

Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM- 1:00PM

Other Work/Responsibilities

  • Assist the team in presenting program training to faculty and staff, ensuring they understand career identity and career readiness resources and are prepared to conduct career coaching.
  • Serve as a content/training resource for the program, ensuring faculty and staff understand career identity and career readiness resources.
  • Assist with presenting training and tracking participant engagement.
  • Track participant engagement and maintain accurate records of training participation.
  • Career Identity Program Support & Student Engagement
  • Support the Director in revising and improving the curriculum for the Program to better support student career development.
  • Help develop and organize Career Identity Program modules in Moodle, ensuring content is engaging and accessible.
  • Provide feedback on career assessment tools and facilitate career identity plan reflections.
  • Promote student participation in Career Identity Program initiatives through targeted marketing and customized information sessions.
  • Student Advising & Career Coaching
  • Conduct one-on-one and group advising appointments with Career Identity students, providing guidance on career exploration, planning, and decision-making.
  • Provide individual and group career coaching to first-year NC State students.
  • Present workshops on Career Identity and Career Readiness topics.
  • Event Planning & Program Coordination
  • Lead the planning and coordination of First Year College Career Week (September 2025), including event logistics, speaker coordination, and promotional efforts.

Minimum Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (education, business, communication, or related area). Master’s degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in career coaching, professional development, training, mentorship, or student engagement in a higher education or corporate setting.

Department Required Skills

  • Experience designing and facilitating training programs, workshops, or learning initiatives focused on early-career professionals or students.
  • Strong public speaking and facilitation skills, with experience working with small and large groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise problem-solving skills, and build relationships with students and employers.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Experience in sales enablement, leadership coaching, or career development programs in an academic or corporate environment.
  • Strong background in training, coaching, mentorship, and program management, particularly for early-career professionals.
  • Experience with strengths-based coaching methodologies.
