WORKSITE
ESL INSTRUCTOR AND COORDINATOR
CATEGORY/LEVEL: PSS/8, Full-time, 12-month position
BASIC FUNCTION: The Worksite ESL Instructor and Coordinator is responsible for developing innovative and effective programming serving area employers as part of the WIOA Title II program. This role focuses on enhancing academic and workforce skills of adult learners, particularly in areas such as English language proficiency and Integrated Education and Technology (IET) programming. This individual will work closely with employers to promote employee/student learning and engagement while combining adult education with workforce preparation and workforce training.
START DATE: ASAP
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Starting salary of $44,600 to $54,700 based on qualifications and experience. Benefits package includes Blue Cross/Blue Shield major medical health insurance; eye care, dental, life and disability insurance; paid vacation and sick leave; a choice of IPERS or TIAA retirement plans, and a variety of additional optional benefits.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Services, or related field. Experience working with diverse populations and adult or high school students, particularly those with educational and personal barriers. Experience in curriculum development, lesson planning, assessment, and instructional support are required. Strong skills in technology, organization, time management, communication, collaboration, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are also important.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching experience preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Collaborate with local employers and training providers to develop programming, customized courses, curriculum, and goals.
• Develop and implement curriculum aligned with College and Career Readiness Standards and English Language Proficiency Standards.
• Serve as the worksite ESL lead instructor, providing guidance and training to part-time instructors and ensuring effective teaching practices.
• Utilize contemporary, research-based teaching methods to foster student learning.
• Conduct assessments, document attendance, and track student progress in accordance with AEL requirements.
• Participate in local and state AEL training, contribute to staff development initiatives, and maintain current knowledge of AEL program requirements.
• Build partnerships with local employers and organizations, promote ESL programs, and support student recruitment efforts.
• Prepare and submit reports on student outcomes and program effectiveness.
• Uphold professional standards and ethics in all interactions.
Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.
