Job Description:
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a dedicated and motivated Junior Varsity (JV) Boys Lacrosse Coach to lead and develop the JV lacrosse program. The ideal candidate will foster an inclusive, positive, and competitive environment, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This coach will play a key role in helping student-athletes grow both athletically and personally, preparing them for future varsity competition while emphasizing education-based athletics.
The JV Boys Lacrosse Coach will work closely with the Varsity coaching staff to ensure alignment within the program and will support the development of athletes at all levels. The successful candidate must meet all NFHS and MIAA coaching requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Team Leadership and Development:
•Lead the JV boys lacrosse team in a way that promotes growth, skill development, and teamwork.
•Provide instruction on fundamental skills, game strategies, and sportsmanship.
2.Practice and Game Preparation:
•Plan and organize daily practices that focus on skill-building, team strategies, and conditioning.
•Prepare student-athletes for competition by fostering a growth mindset and commitment to improving both as individuals and as a team.
3.Player Development:
•Help athletes develop fundamental lacrosse skills, knowledge of the game, and understanding of team dynamics.
•Promote leadership, discipline, and resilience in athletes, both on and off the field.
4.Education-Based Athletics:
•Reinforce the importance of academics and balance between sports and schoolwork.
•Monitor athletes’ academic progress and eligibility, working with school staff and parents to support student-athletes as needed.
5.Team Culture and Sportsmanship:
•Foster an inclusive and positive team culture where all players feel valued and motivated to contribute.
•Promote and model sportsmanship, respect, and integrity in all aspects of the program.
6.Communication:
•Maintain open and effective communication with athletes, parents, and the Head Coach regarding schedules, expectations, and team progress.
•Provide regular updates to the coaching staff, school administration, and parents about team performance and student-athlete development.
7.Safety and Wellness:
•Ensure the safety of all student-athletes by following proper injury prevention protocols, equipment use, and concussion management.
•Respond to injuries and emergencies in compliance with school district protocols.
8.Compliance with NFHS and MIAA Requirements:
•Meet all coaching certifications, training, and regulations required by NFHS and MIAA.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
•Previous coaching or playing experience in boys lacrosse, with knowledge of the game’s fundamentals and strategies.
•Ability to mentor and guide student-athletes in their personal and athletic development.
•Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
•Familiarity with NFHS and MIAA requirements, including:
•NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification
•NFHS Concussion in Sports Certification
•First Aid & CPR Certification
•MIAA Coaching Education Program
•Background Check (CORI/SORI)
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
•Previous coaching experience at the high school or youth level.
•Experience working with diverse student populations.
•Commitment to supporting the growth of the lacrosse program at North Middlesex.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Teacher Contract.
