North River Collaborative 198 Spring Street Rockland, MA 02370 JOB POSTING POSITION/TITLE:Summer Program Special Education Teacher PROGRAM/LOCATION:All North River Collaborative Learning Center and SAILS Program Locations as Determined by Need (Pembroke, West Bridgewater, Bridgewater, Easton) START/END DATE:July 7, 2025 to August 14, 2025 LENGTH OF POSITION:Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00am to 3:00pm for six weeks. SALARY SCHEDULE:Certified Teacher/Licensed Therapist Salary Schedule Hourly Rate Based Upon Education and Experience (Approximate Range of $40-$75 per hour) QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Special Education Certification in Moderate or Severe Special Needs Autism Endorsement Preferred REPORTS TO:Learning Center Program Coordinator EVALUATION: Staff evaluation will be implemented as outlined in the North River Collaborative Personnel Policies and Procedures Handbook. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will serve students in various classrooms that present with multiple disabilities or autism spectrum/developmental disorders. INSTRUCTIONAL/DIRECT SERVICE Provide support for individual students or small groups of students to reinforce skills. Work as a member of a team with other program staff to provide a consistent program for students in the absence of a staff member. Assist staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities. Support the planning, preparation and implementation of daily academic, vocational, and life skills activities. Help to maintain an environment to facilitate learning experiences for the students. Assume responsibility for scheduled activities and implementation when a teacher is not present. Implement behavior management programs for students as outlined. Provide crisis intervention when necessary. SUPERVISION AND TRAINING Attend and participate in in-service training programs and staff development meetings as directed. Learn specific teaching strategies or skills for instructing individual students when necessary. DOCUMENTATION, EVALUATION, AND COMMUNICATION Assist staff in maintaining student attendance records and other data as needed. Abide by program hours and other policies as outlined in the North River Collaborative Personnel Policies and Procedures Handbook. HEALTH AND SAFETY Respond to the needs of individual students so as to enhance their social/emotional health and personal development. Respond to situations in a culturally proficient manner taking into account a whole student perspective. With training, is able to apply de-escalation strategies if necessary to prevent a student from harming themselves or others. Able to safely lift students up to 50 lbs independently and assist in lifting students up to 100 lbs. Able to physically assist students during activities such as: toileting, personal hygiene, in/out of adaptive equipment and mechanical lifts, and other self-care tasks as needed. Able to move with reasonable speed and physically assist students during any emergency drills or actual emergencies. Able to safely and effectively participate in restraint training and to safely perform physical escort and restraints as needed once trained. Able to safely and effectively participate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training if requested and to safely perform CPR as needed once trained. ETHICAL Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students. Maintain professional attitudes and productive relationships with other staff and administration. Treat parents and other professionals with respect. Respond constructively to feedback and goal oriented coaching. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY THE PROGRAM COORDINATOR
