Position Summary
North Side Community School is seeking full-time social worker for an immediate opening. The Elementary School Social Worker plays a crucial role in supporting the emotional, social, and behavioral well-being of elementary school students. The primary focus is on fostering a positive and inclusive school environment, providing counseling services, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and external agencies to enhance the overall success of students. Essential Functions
- Individual and Group Counseling:
- Conduct individual counseling sessions to address students’ social and emotional needs. b. Facilitate group counseling sessions to promote social skills and emotional resilience. 2. Assessment and Intervention:
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ social and emotional needs.
- Develop and implement intervention plans to address identified concerns. 3. Collaboration:
- Collaborate with teachers to implement classroom-based social-emotional learning programs.
- Work closely with parents to provide support and resources for addressing students’ social and emotional challenges.
- Crisis Intervention:
- Provide immediate support and intervention during crisis situations affecting students. b. Collaborate with school staff to develop crisis response plans.
- Resource Referral:
- Connect students and families with external resources and services to address their unique needs.
- Maintain a network of community resources to enhance support options.
- Advocacy:
- Advocate for students’ social and emotional well-being within the school community. b. Collaborate with other school professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student success.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and interventions. b. Provide regular reports to school administrators on the effectiveness of social-emotional programs.
Qualifications
- Degree in Social Work or related field.
- State licensure or certification as a School Social Worker.
- Previous experience working in an educational setting, preferably at the elementary school level.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
