Job Summary:
The Transition Records Support Specialist plays a critical role in assisting service members as they transition out of active service, ensuring that their records are accurate, complete, and up to date. This position requires experience in military records management, personnel data entry, and document verification to provide administrative support for retiring or separating service members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process separation, retirement, and discharge documentation for transitioning service members
- Ensure accurate data entry and record updates in iPERMS, HRR, and other personnel tracking systems
- Conduct audits of transition records to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with ARNG policies
- Assist service members in retrieving personnel and medical records, ensuring all required documents are available before separation
- Coordinate with Veterans Affairs (VA), DoD, and ARNG leadership to ensure proper benefits processing
- Provide guidance to service members on the transition process, including benefits, entitlements, and required paperwork
- Maintain 100% compliance with federal and DoD data protection policies, including HIPAA and ARNG retention guidelines
- Prepare and distribute transition packets, separation orders, and service verification documents
- Assist with processing DD Form 214, DA Form 4856, and other military personnel forms
- Conduct regular data integrity checks to prevent discrepancies or missing information in personnel records
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred)
- 2 years of experience in military personnel administration, HR, or records management
- Proficiency in iPERMS, HRR, DEERS, and DoD personnel systems
- Knowledge of military discharge, retirement, and benefits processing
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality
