Rate of Pay: $60,299.20- $83,324.80
FSLA: Full Time/Exempt
Reports To: ACCESS/ESU Supervisor
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides psychiatric emergency services that will include: triage, crisis intervention and stabilization, referral and assessment for all individuals receiving mental health services (adult and children). It is essential the staff work within a team framework and demonstrate willingness to work with others. Staff will be able to correctly triage, assess (utilizing available assessment methods) and report to agency psychiatrist and other team members the individuals' mental health status and planned course of action. Staff will develop and complete intake assessments, authorizations for hospitalization, pre-plans and individual Plans of Service, consistent with person-centered planning guidelines, on children, adolescents and adults. Such assessments will include obtaining and documenting all necessary information according to NeMCMHA Documenting Standards. Will be an active member of the Children's Diagnostic and Treatment Team. Other examples of service provision will include assessing treatment needs of individual receiving services in both MI and I/DD divisions, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology from a recognized or accredited institution. Must possess state registration as a Licensed Master Social Worker, Limited Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Limited Licensed Professional Counselor, Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist or Limited Licensed Psychologist.
Experience: One or more years of relevant mental health experience. Lived experience with mental illness, intellectual and intellectual/developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders valued.
Other: Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Possess state registration/licensing consistent with qualifications and education. Functional computer literacy is required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Staff will complete Access Screens in person or via telephone.
- Will track service authorizations, hospital length of stay requests, and complete secondary and retrospectivereviews.
- Staff will complete routine, urgent, or emergent intake assessments and will focus on completing same day intake assessments.
- Demonstrate accurate assessment and diagnosis, utilizing the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association and other assessment tools as appropriate.
- Demonstrate an ability to provide emergent mental health services. Able to correctly triage individuals presenting for services.
- Communicates with hospitals, other primary care entities, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and other agencies as necessary.
- May maintain small outpatient therapy caseload dependent upon agency needs.
- Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions, standards of practice including but not limited to confidentiality, recipient rights, and emergency protocol.
- Collaborates with other staff in diagnosing and evaluating individuals, as needed.
- Consults with various agencies, hospitals, individuals and organizations to connect individuals with needed resources and/or services.
- Staff will be expected to participate in trainings aimed at the provision of services for individuals served with co-occurring disorders.
- Actively participates as a member of the Children's Diagnostic and Treatment Team, providing emergent assessment of families in crisis. Will keep current with certification requirements specific to this team.
- Will demonstrate functional computer literacy in all agency documentation
- Demonstrate effective case recording in accordance with Person-Centered Planning.
- May be required to participate in the Emergency Services Unit's rotating on-call system; if so then will be required to complete (24 hours per fiscal year of annual training specific to children 24 CE hours accordingto Policy 5135).
NON-ESSENTIAL JO B FUNCTIONS:
- Performs other related duties as required.
- May be requested to be involved in the Board's continuous quality improvement program.
- May be required to provide own transportation while performing agency-related duties.
